Dental Xrays

Xrays, also known as radiographs are an essential part of any dental plan.

Xrays allow dentists to:

  • Find cavities
  • Look at the tooth’s root
  • Check the health of the bony area around the tooth
  • Determine if periodontal disease is an oral issue
  • See the status of developing teeth
  • Otherwise, monitor good teeth health through prevention.

Dental Xrays are very safe and expose you to a minimal amount of radiation. A lead body apron covers the body from the neck to the knees and protects the body from stray radiation.

Dentists will usually take Xrays every 2 years at your regular checkup. If you are a new patient, your dentist may take Xrays as part of the initial examination.
